Vic: News Ltd secures rail rights for giveaway newspaper

MELBOURNE, Feb 5 AAP - News Ltd said today it had secured an exclusive licence to distribute
its new afternoon giveaway newspaper through Melbourne's rail system.

The Melbourne-based News Ltd company Herald and Weekly Times published the first edition
of MX, a 32-page full colour publication this afternoon, just hours after rival Fairfax
launched its free morning commuter newspaper.

HWT managing director Julian Clarke said MX was specifically designed to meet the needs
of people who lived and worked in the heart of Melbourne.
